Coconut Coir Growing Medium
Cocopeat
Cocopeat is made from the spongy tissues surrounding the seeds of the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera), a tree that thrives in south India. Derived during the extraction of coir fibre from the husks of coconuts, this natural material is proving to be one of the most sustainable and versatile growing mediums available today. As the demand for environmentally friendly and renewable agricultural solutions increases, Cocopeat has emerged as a standout alternative to traditional growing substrates. Cocopeat, often referred to as Coir Peat or Coir Pith, is revolutionizing the way we grow plants, vegetables, and flowers.
Cocopeat has excellent properties that makes it ideal as a growing medium for a wide variety of crops.
Cocopeat Properties
- Superior water retention
- Excellent Aeration
- Stable and long lasting
- Excellent nutrition retention
- Resists bacterial and fungal growth naturally
- Increased yield and lowers expenses
- 100% organic, renewable, bio degradable and ecofriendly

Coconut Grit / Pith
Coir pith that is extracted from the Coconut husk is aged in yards, this process enhances its properties, makes it stable and long-lasting and improves crop yield. Aged cocopeat is more stable, nutrient-friendly, and plant-compatible, making it a preferred choice for sustainable horticulture and agriculture. Coir pith is a coarse material and is sieved to contain 0-6 mm particles.
Coir Fiber
Coir fibre that is cut to length when mixed with Cocopeat and/or Coconut Chips can enhance the growing medium’s properties further. Coir fibre when mixed can play positive role in the drainage and capillary effect of the medium. Based on the customer requirement, to attain the specific WHC and AFP coir fibre is mixed.

Coconut Crush / chips
Coconut crush or Coconut chips are cut from coconut husk and are screened to remove the fine particles. Screening will also help in selecting the right size of Coconut chips to be used in the growing medium. Coconut crush brilliantly increases the AFP of the growing medium. This also helps in increasing the life of the growing medium. It stabilises the growing medium and retains its properties even after multiple crop cycles.
Mixed Medium
Different crops require different WHC and AFP, we engineer our growing medium in various combinations of the above ingredients to attain that. We can produce 5kg blocks and growbags in the specified combination of coir pith, coconut crush and coir fibre.

Applications of Coco Peat
Coco Peat is a versatile growing medium widely used in the cultivation of various crops. It is ideal for producing tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, capsicums, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, eggplants, zucchinis, melons, rare herbs, cannabis, and medicinal plants. Additionally, it supports the growth of pak choi and a variety of cut flowers, including roses, gerbera, gypsophila, gladiolus, lilies, anthuriums, lisianthus, chrysanthemums, and carnations, among others.
Beyond crop cultivation, Coco Peat serves multiple purposes, such as a potting mix, a medium for seedling propagation, and a substrate for mushroom farming. It is highly effective as a soil conditioner and can be blended with materials like peat moss, perlite, sand, compost, and fertilizers to enhance soil quality. Coco Peat also functions as a co-substrate for compost, supports tissue-cultured plants, and is used as bedding for reptiles and worm farming.
Its applications extend to landscaping and construction, being utilized in golf courses, race tracks, sports fields, and terrace gardens. Additionally, it is popular in hobby gardening and for growing plantation crops, making it an essential component in both commercial agriculture and personal gardening endeavours.
